REVIEWS for Nemesis Divine:

West Side Dave (no scoring): "Gallows End has fused their love of, and dedication to, the Metal genre with their first rate musical abilities and compositional skills, and the result is undoubtedly one of the finest Power Metal CDs of 2010."

Metal Temple, 8/10: "It is heavy and speedy, but memorable enough to stick in and create a positive initial impression. In fact, the songwriting on this entire album is very strong."

Metal CD Ratings, 4/5: "...‘Nemesis divine’ is a bustling example of speed/power metal that burns with an energy and enthusiasm that many feel has been lacking from certain established bands in the genre over the last few years."

The Metal Crypt, 4.5/5: "...this is an album full of highlights that guitar aficionados will fall in love with, and while this isn't a classic, it is certainly damned close."

Metal Review, 7.3: "Between the band's energetic riffs, memorable choruses and Klaström’s inspired playing, each track has something to catch the listener’s ear."

Live 4 Metal (no scoring): "Gallows End scores kudos from the start by producing such a beautiful packaged real CD... A fantastic album, showcasing everything that’s good and uplifting about metal."

Metal Revolution, 77/100: "...this release has everything that any fan of Edguy, Avantasia, Hammerfall, Sinergy or Primal fear would love. Definitely worth a listen!"

Metal-Rules.com, 3.5/5.0: "My bottom line on Gallows End is this is a quality release from a gifted young band and I will definitely look forward to hearing more from them in the future."

www.metalpsalter.com, 3.5/5.0: "The production is top-notch and the band sweeps galloping riffs across the room like Cinderella in the fireplace, magically conjuring images of a time long considered dead or dated by many outside the realm. Thankfully bands like Gallows End are holding high the banner, and Sweden has fast become the newly-christened home base for the old-school sound. Not everything from that part of the world is dark and wrought with evil."

Dangerdog Music Reviews, 3.5/5.0, Recommended: "Most songs here, like Nemesis Divine, Kingdom of the Damned, or Not Your Own, blur the distinction between thrash and speed metal, but the lyrical arc and persistent melody lends Nemesis Divine to a Maidenesque power metal."

Power of Metal, 82/100: "A nice debut for all the classical (power) metal lovers."

Fury Rocks, 9.4: "Nemesis Divine is a solid and diverse album that brings a lot of power for you to enjoy. Classic heavy metal with modern fury, a treasure from Gallows End, Nemesis Divine."

MetalMark: "...this is top of the line grab you by the throat, full on assault style of metal."

Metal To Infinity, 89/100: "Ultimate clear but strong vocals, roaring and screaming guitars including excellent melodic guitar solo’s and killer drums / bass lines to the extreme delivering the evidence that Gallows End is a real good band. They’ll definitely find a way straight to the heart of every Classic Heavy Metal defender… and they will conquer their souls of steel undoubtedly!"

Lords of Metal E-zine, 80/100 (Netherlands) : "...‘Nemesis Divine’ has become a highly respectable debut album and one that would definitely apply to the fans of traditional heavy metal."

"Gallows End describe themselves as “Pure Fucking Heavy Metal”.
The band is hailing from a small town called Arvika in Sweden. The band started 2007 by singer/guitarist Thord Klarstrom. And now they have released their debut album “Nemesis Divine”.
Gallows End plays metal that could be described as Heavy/Power/True. Bands that´s coming to my mind when I hear Gallows End are Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Accept, Gamma Ray & Running Wild. You can definitively hear that the bands biggest influence comes from the 80´s Metal, but still with a modern feeling and their own personal touch to it all.
The album starts off with the title track, or actually with the short intro that takes us in to the title track “Nemesis Divine (The trial of the gods)”, the intro is kinda scary with its bells and the feeling of being in hell tortured by a not so nice demon…. (Actually the intro is based on the bible: Matthew 13.41, 43). Well, it is a really good opener that starts off with some heavy guitars. Actually the riffing in the song makes me bang my head when trying to review the album!! The song also has some nice tempo changes in it. This will be a great song to start their live set with I think.
The second song is called “Soul Collector”. This track blew me away the first time that I heard it. Very very powerful chorus! “I am the soul collector, there´s no escape from me”….damn, don’t wanna meet that “collector” I tell ya! This is Metal at its finest moments in my opinion!
Then we have “Kingdom of the damned” with its powerful guitars & melody. A song that probably will be one of those fav tracks from the audience on the live shows. Again Gallows End combine great melody but still with a heavy metal feeling in it.
The fourth song is “No return”, really, really heavy guitars in the beginning of the song. A mid tempo song that hits you like a fist in the face!
"The curse” with its guitars in the beginning reminds me of Running Wild, and I also think Thord´s singing is a little different in this one. Well, that proves that he has a great capability in his voice. Very melodic tune and it is one of my personal fav tunes on the album if I mention 3-4 songs. This is also one of three songs that guitarist Peter Samuelson has written the music for.
“Set the world in flames” is a mid tempo song, heavy and melodic with a nice chorus. The next one is “Not your own” a nice melodic tune with great heaviness. Also in this tune young drummer Mikael Karlsson is kicking some extra ass. A great song in my opinion!
“Different eyes” is a song that took me a few listenings to get into. The song has some nice tempo changes in it, and overall it’s a great song with a nice melody and I like the bass playing from Niklas Nord on it. “The end” is not ending the album, no, it’s the ninth song on the album and it starts off like a ballad with the nice guitars, but after a short while the song proves to be a heavy melodic mid tempo tune.
“The unborn flag” is the next tune and this f**kin tune kicks some serious ass!!! This song was the one that got me into Gallows End. And every time I hear this tune it is blowing me away totally. This will be a great song for the band to perform live!
The fastest song on the album is “Storm of fate”. A very powerful tune that has some really nice tempo changes in it. Extra credits for the great lyrics. Excellent Metal!
“Riders of the north” ends the album. The song is around 10 minutes long and has a really epic feeling. The song is about, well it is pretty obvious I guess…I really love the middle part of the song with the ancient viking prayer…”In the halls of Valhalla, where the brave may live forever”. I really like that the song is “opening new doors” with its variation.
Overall this is a strong debut album from Gallows End. The band mixes both heaviness and speed with great melodies in a perfect way. The band has really great potential and it will be interesting to see what more they can come up with in the near future.
To be honest I have not felt this overwhelmed by a debut album for many years and I can’t wait for a follow up to this album!
And I couldn’t agree more with what the band call their music, this truly is: “Pure Fucking Heavy Metal ”!!!"
